A Thermador cooktop has no burners to fix
Freedom Induction is one continuous surface with pan detection, so nothing on it corresponds to a burner and nothing on it fails like one. Faults cluster in the coil boards underneath, in the cooling fan that keeps them alive, and in the touch control interface. That is the whole argument for this company: a built-in kitchen is architecture, and it has to be diagnosed as the system it actually is.

What we work on
Organised by appliance type, because that is how these machines fail. Every page names the symptoms we hear, the parts that actually go, and the local factor that drives it.
Induction cooktops
Full-surface induction is an electronics platform under a sheet of glass. When a zone dies it is almost never an element, and diagnosis has to start at the inverter boards.
Gas rangetops
Star burners, ExtraLow simmer and a griddle or grill module in one drop-in top. Most faults are ignition, gas flow or a control that has stopped cycling correctly.
Professional ranges
One appliance doing two jobs. The rangetop half and the oven half fail in completely different ways, and a range visit has to cover both properly.
Wall ovens
Built into cabinetry, carrying a heavy door and a lot of heat. Wall ovens fail at the door, at the sensor and at whatever the last self-clean cycle pushed too far.
Steam ovens
A small water system inside an oven: fill, heat, level sensing, drain and a sealed door. Weak steam is one of those five, and they are separable in an hour.
Speed ovens
Microwave energy and convection heat in one built-in cavity, which means two heating systems, two failure sets and one high-voltage section nobody should open casually.
Column refrigeration
Panel-ready columns installed flush into cabinetry. Service starts with pulling the unit forward on its rails, and the ice maker is the assembly that fails first.
Dishwashers
Quiet, panel-ready and third-racked, which makes a fault easy to ignore. Most calls here are a machine still finishing its cycle and no longer doing the job.
Ventilation
Hoods, inline blowers and roof-mounted units. The motor is often nowhere near the kitchen, and on the coast it is sitting in salt air all year.
Local factor
Power events, salt air, and how the kitchen was built
Around 68 thunderstorm days a year, plus the multi-day outages this coast took after Matthew in 2016, Irma in 2017 and Helene in 2024. Appliance electronics do not always fail on the day.
A board that saw a surge or a brownout can run for weeks and then stop, which is why we ask when the power last went out before we quote anything. A sealed-system compressor with an inverter drive behaves the same way: it restarts, it cools, and it gives up a month later. Diagnosing that as a new fault is how an owner ends up paying twice.
The other two factors are geographic. Within a few miles of the ocean, chloride reaches condenser fins, hinge hardware and roof-mounted blowers years before anything wears out mechanically. Inland, the constraint is usually the cabinetry and the circuit: a pre-war opening that was widened by hand, a column with no clearance to come forward, a hood duct with more elbows than the blower was sized for.
What a technician checks, and in what order
The order is not arbitrary. Each step either eliminates a whole class of cause or is cheap enough that skipping it costs more than doing it.
Supply first
Voltage at the appliance, the breaker, and whether the circuit is genuinely dedicated. A board replaced on an undersized or shared circuit fails again.
The complaint, reproduced
We run the appliance and watch the fault happen rather than accepting a description of it. Intermittent faults get a longer cycle, not a faster guess.
Sensors before boards
Thermistors, level sensing and door switches are cheap, measurable and fail far more often than the board reading them. A board is a diagnosis of exclusion.
Airflow and clearance
Cooling fans, vent paths, condenser access and the cabinet opening itself. An appliance closed in by joinery or a counter substrate will keep failing the same way.
Model and serial, then parts
The serial number decides which variant of a part fits. We read the data plate before we order, and we tell you the lead time in writing rather than after the fact.

What owners said after the visit
Each entry is one visit: what failed, what was measured, what was changed. They are printed as they were given to us, and the less flattering ones are printed too.
Steam was reaching temperature slowly and food came out uneven. He replaced a heating element in the generator and cleaned the outlet ports. Better, though it is still not quite as quick as it was new.

After a power cut the ignition clicked on every burner at once and would not stop. He replaced the spark module and found moisture had tracked into one of the switch bodies. No clicking since.
